Speed Skating NWT is committed to coaches development. Coaches are encouraged to register in The Locker, the Coaching Association of Canada‘s central location to easily access, manage, and maintain coach training and records. Coaches are encouraged to register through the IceReg platform: https://icereg.ca/#!/.
Training opportunities are identified through Sport North Federation, Speed Skating Canada, and the National Coaching Certification Association. New coaches are often paired with experienced high performance coaches during the NWT Championships as well as southern competitions to foster an environment of mentorship.
For coaches who are interested in pursuing higher certifications, Speed Skating NWT supports them in traveling to obtain further training in southern Canada. Traveling to the southern competitions allows coaches to learn from others at their level, hear about innovative training, and gain inspiration from different parts of the country.
