Speed Skating NWT is committed to officials development. Officials are encouraged to register through the IceReg platform: https://icereg.ca/#!/.
Training opportunities are identified through Sport North Federation, Speed Skating Canada, and the National Coaching Certification Association. For officials, training is generally offered in the days leading up to the NWT Championships to assure that all officials are trained in the area that they will be volunteering. New officials are often paired with more experienced officials to foster an environment of mentorship.

For officials who are interested in pursuing higher certifications, Speed Skating NWT supports them in traveling to obtain further training in southern Canada. Traveling to the southern competitions allows officials to learn from others at their level, hear about innovative training, and gain inspiration from different parts of the country.
