Speed Skating NWT and the Government of the Northwest Territories are partnering on the launch of the Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism – ALIAS, an independent reporting mechanism that supports the intake and management of complaints from all speed skating participants in the NWT, including athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
Items that can be reported included governance disputes, non-compliance with organizational policies, and conduct or behaviour that results or has the potential to result in physical or psychological harm, including but not limited to, maltreatment, abuse of authority, bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
ALIAS is accessible online and by telephone. Complaints can be raised – on a confidential basis, with or without anonymity – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including weekends and holidays).
- Website: https://nwt01.app01.alias-solution.com/en/public
- Phone: 1 (833) 834-0945

Reports submitted via ALIAS are sent to an external, third-party Case Manager to ensure an independent review. The Case Manager will use the platform’s private and secure internal messaging system to communicate as needed and will determine next steps based on the type of complaint and the individuals and/or organizations involved.
ALIAS is responsible for assessing each complaint and determining the appropriate jurisdiction:
- Complaints that relate to the Universal Code to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) and meet the Policy criteria are treated by ALIAS;
- Complaints that fall outside ALIAS’s jurisdiction are redirected to the appropriate body, such as the Territorial Sport Organization (TSO), or will be rejected.
- Administrative concerns should be reported to the TSO and handled according to the local complaints process, for instance, coach assignments, player evaluations and selections, etc.
